How to Know When Your Business Actually Needs a Website
Not every business needs a website from day one. But there's a point where Instagram or Telegram stop being enough, and a website turns from an option into a necessity. Here's how to tell when that point has arrived for you.
Signs it's already time to build a website
- Customers regularly ask "do you have a website?" — and it's already affecting how much they trust you.
- Instagram or Telegram can no longer hold all the information you need to share: services, pricing, case studies, contacts.
- You work with B2B clients or partners, for whom not having a website looks unprofessional.
- You want people to find you on Google when they search for your services — without a website, that's not possible.
When a website still isn't necessary
If you're just testing an idea, finding your first clients through people you know, or all your sales happen in person or through a marketplace — a website can wait. At this stage, it's more important to check whether there's demand at all than to invest in an online presence.
What to do instead of a full website at a very early stage
- A one-page landing page — a short description of your service and a lead form, which is often enough to get started.
- A Telegram bot or channel with fixed information — faster and cheaper than a website, and your customers are already there.
Where to start once you've decided it's time
Decide on the one main action you want a visitor to take: leave a lead, message you on Telegram, or call. The whole website is built around that one action — everything else can be added gradually, once you know exactly what you need.
