How Long Does It Take to Build a Business Website
The second question after "how much does it cost" is "how long will it take." And here too there's no single number that fits every case, but there are clear benchmarks and factors that affect them.
Rough timelines by type of site
- One-page website (landing page) — 7-14 business days.
- Small business website (a few pages, custom design) — 2-4 weeks.
- Website with automation (Telegram bot, CRM, more complex logic) — 4+ weeks, depending on scope.
What the timeline is made up of
- Discovery (1-3 days) — discussing the goal, structure, and budget.
- Design (3-7 days) — the layout and getting the look approved.
- Development (5-10 days) — building it out, responsive layout, hooking up forms and functionality.
- Content and testing (2-4 days) — final copy, checking it on different devices.
- Launch (1 day) — connecting the domain and going live.
What most often drags out the timeline
On the client's side, it's usually waiting on text and photos — when they get prepared "as we go," the project stretches out over weeks. On the developer's side, unrealistic promises upfront ("a website in 3 days") usually mean a generic template with no real customization, not fast quality work.
How to speed things up
The single biggest factor is having content ready before development starts: text, photos, a logo (if you already have one). If you don't have it yet, that's not a reason to delay the project — just build in time to prepare it alongside the design phase, not after it.
